The NOM 2004 Organizing Committee invites authors
to submit original and unpublished works, innovations, ideas, softwares
based on multidisciplinary problems that require solutions, position
papers, case studies, etc., in areas of Hán-Nôm studies. Hán-Nôm
researchers and scholars are invited to present their research results.
IT practitioners and consultants are invited to present case study
papers and innovative solutions. Corporations are invited to present
their information systems and software-based solutions. Public servers
are invited to present case studies, information systems developed
for specific purposes, and innovative ideas and designs. Social
science and humanities scholars are invited to present research
or position papers on the impact and the prospect possibilities
of Hán-Nôm popularization.
The general topic areas of the Conference
are:
1. presentation of basic researches in Hán-Nôm
(history of chữ Nôm formation, script type, formation of chữ Nôm,
functions of chữ Nôm, linguistic and historical aspects, problems
of Hán Nôm documents, etc.),
2. problems in building Hán Nôm repertoire of characters for researches,
and popularization, utilization, and training of Nôm with the help
of informatics, as well as
3. urgent problems in document knowledge extraction and preservation
of chữ Nôm.
All are invited to organize panel or invited sessions.
Panel sessions with panelists coming from both IT and social sciences
as well as Hán-Nôm researchers, scholars, non-profit and for-profit
corporations, publishers, museums and libraries and practitioners
are highly encouraged.
Submitted papers must describe work not previously
published. They must not be submitted concurrently to another conference
with refereed proceedings.

Abstracts and Paper Drafts Submission
- All submitted papers must have an abstract.
- Abstracts should be 500 words, submitted together with author’s
name, professional address, contact telephone and email, and
a short biography.
- Reviews will be done for all submissions.
Invited Sessions proposals follow the same as abstract and paper
submission. Titles, abstracts and (co)-organizer information
also follow the abstract submission requirements.
- Software demonstration sessions and publication display proposals
follow the same as abstract and paper submission. Titles, organizer
information also follow the abstract submission requirements.
Important Dates
- June 15, 2004: Deadline
for abstracts and invited session proposals.
- June 15, 2004: Final
paper submission for both individual papers and invited sessions,
both hard copies and electronic versions.
- September 15, 2004:
Notifications of Acceptance.
- September 15, 2004:
Final Programme Announcement.
Papers Reviewing And Publication
- Submitted papers will be reviewed.
Accepted papers will be published by means of paper and electronic
proceedings. Authors of accepted papers must sign a copyright
release form.
- All submitted papers will use Unicode standard Times New Roman,
12 point, single-spaced. If you don’t have this font, you can
download and install in your system from http://nomfoundation.org/fonts.
